Blogs: Blogging Tories Dominating the Blogosphere
Apart from two blog posts on the Brenda Martin case from Small Dead Animals, the other theme for the most-linked-to blog posts this week are about the controversy surrounding a white supremacy rally held in downtown Calgary. The posts from Blogging Tories’ Small Dead Animals and Ezra Levant criticize blogger Warren Kinsella’s for raising the question of the limits of free speech regarding white supremacy groups. While the blogosphere this week is dominated by the Blogging Tories, there is one post from Blogging Dippers’ Idealist Pragmastist questioning Liberal Bloggers’ claim that the NDP is attacking the Liberals more than the Conservatives.
News
This week’s common theme for the most-linked-to news stories and blog posts concerns the case of Brenda Martin – a Canadian citizen jailed in Mexico under allegations of money laundering. While the two news articles on the Martin case from the Chronicle Herald focus on MPs involvement in the case, two posts from Conservative blog Small Dead Animals denounce the case as political opportunism and question Martin’s reason for going to Mexico. The other topics covered in the news stories are about criticisms of Dion by Quebequois Liberal Party members and the extension of Canada’s involvement in Afghanistan.

YouTube
With parliament on Easter Recess, there have been some interesting developments in this week’s YouTube results. Jack Layton’s most viewed clips remain largely the same from last week, albeit with fewer views than in the previous week. It seems that Layton has carved out a favourable niche on YouTube by using his speaking skills in Question Period and in interviews. Stephane Dion received a reprieve from last week’s entirely negative most viewed videos result this week with two positive clips, including one focusing on the environment, which must be considered an encouraging development for him. Stephen Harper’s most viewed videos for this week were mostly negative, but they were all old clips and did not focus on a particular issue.
